I am constantly being asked about the software that I use in performing my day to day, internet business.
Here is a list of the most essential tools that I use daily. I will continue to add to this list.
Do not under estimate the importance of these tools. This list has taken me more than 18 months of
research and trial, to put together :
I will earn an ‘affiliate’ commission for many of these products.
Got to be “Firefox” with “Chrome” coming in a close second.
PHOTO EDITING – IMAGE COMPOSITION
Got to be “GIMP”. Beats ‘photoshop” and it’s free ! Open Source so there are a ton of tutorials on “YouTube”
BANNER / BUTTON CREATION
Instant Banner Creator – Good easy way to produce professional looking headers, footers & buttons.
I use this “user friendly” program as a quick and easy way to produce a header that I can use with my
wordpress themes. Can then be edited in “GIMP” if required.
FILE TRANSFER (FTP)
I like “Filezilla”. Simple interface and again plenty of tutorials on “YouTube” Once again it’s FREE!
WORD PROCESSOR / SPREADSHEETS / PRESENTATION ETC
Arguably as good as, or better than “Office”. Lots of add-ons, templates are available. FREE
There are plenty of themes available online many of which are free. I have experimented with hundreds
of various themes, and now use two in particular for about 75% of all my sites. These are particularly
good for a beginner, making it easy to change the overall look and design of the site. I am in the process
of producing a number of tutorials that will focus on these themes. Both are FREE themes.
The “flexibilty” theme has a paid upgrade version called “flexsqueeze” which is brilliant for sales pages,
landing pages etc. This site is a “flexsqueeze” theme.
There are hundreds of thousands of various plug-ins that can be found at WORDPRESS
I use an ever expanding list of FREE and PAID plug-ins, which all have a specific use or purpose.

Whether you are marketing a local business, a product or service, or working within a particular niche.
You must understand the “keywords” that your customers/clients are using to find you (or not!)
There are many tools available, including some great FREE tools from Google.
But these are the three more advanced tools that I use with all projects.
KEYWORD SPY – free tool with paid upgrade available.
SEOQUAKE - free tool available as an “add on” for Firefox & Chrome only
E-MAIL / AUTO-RESPONDERS / SIGN UP FORMS
I like “I-Contact” , it has many of the features of much more expensive programs and produces
great looking customizable sign up forms, that I utilize on all my landing pages. The cost increases
as you build your lists, so it is easy to start at less than $10 per month. There is a FREE trial available.
I utilize video in all my marketing campaigns and have developed a system which is a “fast track”
to front page of Google positioning.
Take a look at : VIDEO DOMINATION SYSTEM for details of how this works.
If you want to distribute your own videos yourself, then we recommend a combination of manual
submissions as well as the use of some of the available automated programs.
TUBE MOGUL – this is a good FREE “starter” program
TRAFFIC GEYSER - this is an excellent package of tools that includes video submission, articles,
social bookmarks, podcast sites etc. You will want this package as you develop your business, if
you want to take care of the technical side yourself. Comes with great training and a wealth of
VIDEO SUBMISSION UPLOADER
Does not submit to as many sites as Traffic Geyser but the monthly cost is much cheaper ($19.99)
TRAFFIC BUG - submits your site information to search engines, directories, rss directories and
social bookmarking sites. FREE trial available and then low monthly fee.
JING is a great FREE tool that has an inexpensive “pro” version as well. Only limited by a max length
of 5 minutes per video. But you can always produce a part 1, part 2 etc.
The well respected PRO tool is CAMTASIA. Rather expensive but they do offer a 30 day free trial.
Another FREE tool that I have been using recently requires “Firefox” to be installed, but again will
allow you to capture both your browser window or full screen. CAPTURE FOX
This is one of the easiest ways of producing an effective video. Particularly if you don’t like the
idea of being “on screen” yourself. Takes an article and converts it into a video.
Want an easy way of adding a “talking video” to your web site, without being “on screen”
yourself. You can take a look at an example of this at : VIDEO DOMINATION SYSTEM
WORDPRESS VIDEO PLAYER
Host your video on YouTube (for free) and embed player on your site. No YouTube Logo or related videos !!
